Admission Requirements
Applicants who meet all the requirements listed below will be offered admission to NMSU Global Campus. If you don’t meet every requirement, you may still be offered admission if a review of additional information indicates you’ll be successful in your program. We encourage all students to apply!
Regular Admission
To be admitted into NMSU Global Campus as a freshman, you must be a graduate of an accredited high school, submit your application for admission, and meet at least one of the following requirements:
- A cumulative high school GPA of 2.75
- A top 20% ranking in your graduating class
- A composite ACT score of 21 or SAT score of 1060
While official ACT or SAT scores are not required, having them on file will maximize your scholarship opportunities and help with your math and English placement when you enroll. Our ACT code is 2638 and our SAT code is 4531. For information on upcoming test dates, please visit the ACT and SAT websites.
Home School Admission
To be admitted into NMSU Global Campus as a freshman, you must submit your application for admission, meet the same requirements as Regular Admission, and provide a transcript or document from your home school educator with the following:
- A list of the courses completed and grades earned
- Graduation or completion date from the home school program
If you are a resident of New Mexico and planning on applying for the New Mexico Lottery or Opportunity Scholarship and other institutional scholarships, you will need to submit proof to the Undergraduate Admissions Office that your home school program is registered with the New Mexico Public Education Department.
Regular Admission
To be admitted into NMSU Global Campus as a transfer student, you must submit your application for admission, be eligible to return to your last college or university, and have:

- Official college transcripts or e-transcripts from each college or university you attended (emailed directly to NMSU at admissions@nmsu.edu)
- 24 completed credit hours at a non-military college/university
If you have fewer than 24 completed college credits, you must fulfill the First Time Freshmen admission requirements. Courses taken for college credit while enrolled in high school are not counted toward the 24 credit hours.

To be admitted into NMSU Global Campus as a graduate student, you must submit your application for admission and meet your desired graduate program’s admission requirements.
For specific information about deadlines and admission requirements, please find your program in our academic catalog.
When you submit your application, it is sent directly to the academic program for review. Once a recommendation is made, the graduate school will email you with additional instructions. If you have questions or concerns, please email our Admissions team.
To be admitted into NMSU Global Campus as an international student, you must meet the same admissions standards as NMSU Main Campus students, but some additional requirements apply.
For instance, you must submit your transcripts to an approved evaluation agency if you attended a non-U.S. institution. Depending on your country of citizenship, you may also need to pass an English-language proficiency exam (TOEFL/IELTS).
More information on application requirements can be found on our International Students page.
To be admitted into NMSU Global Campus to take courses without pursuing a degree, you must submit your application for admission and have:
- An unofficial college transcript from the last college or university you attended to help assure your readiness for university-level courses
Please note that non-degree seeking students are ineligible to:
- Receive financial aid, scholarships, or student employment
- Participate in student government or intercollegiate athletics
- Receive benefits from any veterans’ program
What if I change my mind and want to earn a degree?
If you’re a non-degree-seeking student in good academic standing at NMSU Global Campus and want to change to degree-seeking status, you must submit a new application for admission.
You may not transfer more than 90 credits earned while on non-degree status to any undergraduate degree program. The only exception is if you’re a high school student participating in a concurrent enrollment program.
To be admitted into NMSU Global Campus to earn a second bachelor’s degree, you must submit your application for admission and meet all the college, department, and major requirements for your chosen second bachelor’s degree (including residency, if applicable), and have:
- Official college transcripts or e-transcripts from each college or university you attended (emailed directly to NMSU at admissions@nmsu.edu)
It’s important to know that General Education requirements, including Viewing a Wider World, are waived for a second bachelor’s degree at NMSU Global Campus. We count these as completed from your first bachelor’s degree. You might be able to apply credits from your previous degree towards your second degree, but this depends on the specific rules of your college and department, as described in our academic catalog.
To be readmitted into NMSU Global Campus as a former student of the NMSU system who has been out of school for more than two consecutive terms, you must submit a new application for admission, be eligible to return to your last college or university, and have:
- Official college transcripts or e-transcripts from each college or university you attended during your absence (emailed directly to NMSU at admissions@nmsu.edu)
Your readmission status is typically based on your previous academic standing at NMSU, but performance at other institutions during your absence from NMSU may also be considered.
