“I decided to join NMSU Global Campus because of its affordability and flexibility,” says recent graduate Jessica G. She completed her undergraduate degree in-person at NMSU. Later, when Jessica was ready to continue her education and advance her career, she returned as an Aggie with NMSU Global Campus, opting to go online to earn her Master of Science in Industrial Engineering. “I was working full-time, and I also had the opportunity to get my degree,” she explains.

Jessica’s knack for hands-on problem-solving led her to a career in engineering, where she could apply her skills and creativity. “I really like working outdoors on cars, and I like to solve problems, so that’s why I went into engineering,” she shares, adding, “I come from a Hispanic family. I’m very proud of my heritage and very proud to be a female engineer out there trying to make a difference in the world.”

Jessica worked and studied hard to achieve her success – and the support of her family made a big difference in her graduate student experience.  “While I was getting my master’s degree, there were times when the courses would be difficult,” she recalls, “but my parents were always there to encourage me and tell me that I got this, and I can push through it.” With strong family support backing her up, Jessica maintained her drive, graduated from her master’s program, and is ready to make significant strides in her engineering career.
