“At NMSU Global Campus, I created great relationships not only with my peers but also with my teachers. We were always there to communicate and help each other.”

Bernadette H., Class of 2024

If you’ve already earned your master’s degree in nursing and hold national certification in a clinical specialty area, then our FNP Graduate Certificate offers you a great way to become certified in another advanced-practice specialty. This one-year program, which focuses on long-term healthcare in families, prepares you for advanced health assessment, advanced pathophysiology, advanced pharmacology, and management of acute and chronic illnesses in families.

In addition to your 100% online coursework, this certificate program requires a minimum of 500 clinical hours, giving you the opportunity to work alongside professional nurses and doctors as you hone your new specialized skills. These clinical experiences, combined with your courses and specialty seminars, emphasize the physiological and psychosocial impact of illness on the patient and family.

Once you have completed the program, you’re prepared to sit for the Family Nurse Practitioner certification exam.

Interested applicants should review program information on the School of Nursing’s website and contact the Nursing Graduate Academic Advisor.
