The Master of Arts in Agricultural and Extension Education offers a deep understanding of agriculture’s impact on society, applying scientific and business principles to address real-world challenges. Students in this program will gain practical skills and knowledge in key areas of agricultural and extension education, including:
- Exploring the historical and philosophical roots of agricultural and extension education to understand its influence on the industry today.
- Examining how new agricultural ideas, technologies, and practices spread — and what strategies help communities and organizations successfully adopt them.
- Designing, managing, and improving educational programs to support youth development in agriculture.
Students can tailor their degree to their interests with two flexible options: a research-driven thesis or a hands-on project or investigation — both designed to align with professional goals and passions.

The Master of Arts in Agricultural and Extension Education requires 30 credits to complete. Students can choose between a thesis or non-thesis plan. Both include a final oral examination.
Thesis plan: Requires a minimum of 30 semester credits, including 6 credits of thesis work.
Non-Thesis plan: Requires 30 semester credits of coursework, including a 6-credit creative component.

Admission Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution
- Minimum 3.0 GPA in undergraduate coursework
- Letter of interest
- Resume or CV
- Three letters of recommendation
If you have relevant professional experience but hold a bachelor’s degree in a different field, or if your undergraduate GPA is between 2.5 – 2.9, you are still encouraged to apply. GRE scores are not required.
