The Master of Agricultural and Extension Education at NMSU Global Campus is designed primarily for educators who currently teach agriculture and/or those who currently work or desire to work with the Cooperative Extension Service. NMSU Global Campus provides mentors and instructional coaches who facilitate relevant demonstrations, observations, and conversations as they implement new agricultural strategies and knowledge.

Our learning cohorts include New Mexico educators in public secondary schools; community colleges; and non-formal educational positions with the Cooperative Extension Service, the New Mexico Department of Agriculture, and other government agencies and industry who wish to further develop their educational, leadership, communication and technical skills while working full-time.

The Master of Agricultural and Extension Education from NMSU Global Campus is excellent for professional development and advancement. New Mexico secondary public school teachers can utilize this graduate degree program to achieve Level III teacher licensure!

Program Highlights and Learning Outcomes

The Master of Agricultural and Extension Education program offers detailed historical and contemporary knowledge of the context and content of extension education, school-based agricultural education, or leadership development. Graduates are professionally trained to be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding and mastery of the theories, principles, and practice of agricultural and extension education.
  • Analyze data and consider theories from the research literature, drawing conclusions about how teaching is influencing learning and vice versa.
  • Design and implement informational future instructional decisions.
  • Follow standard research procedures and protocols to improve the teacher’s immediate classroom teaching and beyond.
