New Mexico State University’s Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) degree program offers all coursework 100% online + 320 supervised on-site field hours.

Our expert faculty prepare students for public health careers in nonprofit agencies; in government agencies at the local, state and national levels; and in companies that Our BPH program is fully accredited by the Council on Education in Public Health (CEPH).

The curriculum includes a Field Experience of 320 hours of supervised professional work in a public health setting. The Field Experience is arranged so that the student can fulfill this important component of your education in the community where you live.

Program Highlights and Learning Outcomes

The Bachelor of Public Health prepares our NMSU Global Campus graduates to function as successful professionals in community health and public health settings. Students will develop the following skills:

  • Design an effective framework to evaluate public health programs.
  • Apply evidence-based solutions in real-world health scenarios.
  • Explore and work with social and behavioral science theories, models, and principals to enhance decision-making in public health issues.
  • Learn the application of epidemiology to screening infectious diseases, prevention, and policy development.
  • Synthesize ethical concepts that recognize power, politics, and organizational performance in healthcare settings.

Professional Credentials and Advanced Study

Bachelor of Public Health graduates from NMSU Global Campus are eligible to take the national Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) exam, which is administered by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing.

Graduates may also wish to continue their education in the Master of Public Health (MPH) program at NMSU Global Campus. We specialize in offering practice-based learning of core disciplines that are related to contemporary global health issues.
